In 2021 Yellow Springs Home, Inc. completed its largest project to date. The $2.29 million, 12-unit Glen Cottages Pocket Neighborhood represents inclusive infrastructure, featuring a mix of rentals and for-sale homes around a shared commons affordable to persons of low-to-moderate income. The development consists of 6 rentals and 6 homeownership units. Home, Inc. examined the gaps in the local housing market—which is now unaffordable to the majority of the population—and created a housing product to meet those gaps by creating a mixed-income neighborhood setting.  As Yellow Springs' first ever neighborhood designed around a shared green, Glen Cottages was designed to promote a close-knit sense of community and neighborliness. The pocket neighborhood is near an accessible walking path and a low-cost bus route and is within walking distance of downtown Yellow Springs. All homes use less than 60% of the energy of a conventional home of the same size, adding to sustainability and affordability.
